Welcome to the official website of Cathy Glass,
author of bestsellers
Damaged and Hidden.
Damaged was published by HarperCollins in February 2007 and
immediately became an international bestseller. It was No.1 in The Sunday Times
bestseller non fiction list for a total of three months. Hidden, published November 2007,
spent eight weeks in the Top Ten and is still selling world-wide.
The two books together have sold 0.5 million copies.
Cut, published August 2008 is set to continue the success.
Cathy has been overwhelmed by the response from readers, thousands of whom have
emailed her, sending their love and best wishes, and saying how moved they
have been by her books. Some of those emails are on the blog.
Cathy Glass has been a foster carer for over 20 years, during which time she has looked after
more than 50 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She began writing the books to highlight the plight of vulnerable
children, and thereby hopefully improve 'the system' which doesn't always protect these children as it should.
Her books are now
used extensively by lecturers, trainers, and practitioners, working in
the area of childcare and child protection.
"All types of people foster," Cathy says, "
and fostering becomes a way of life. It is about giving a child who can't
live with their natural family as near a normal family life as possible. Some
of the children who come into care have suffered dreadfully, and often you
find yourself crying with them. But if, when they leave you, you
have managed to help in some small way and make a difference, then the
rewards are immeasurable."
On this website you can find out more about Cathy, her new fostering memoir,
Cut, future books, and also add to her blog.
There is also an update about Jodie under Damaged.
